Description
Rinpoche taught The Nine Yana
Journey based on Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye's Treasury
of Knowledge which collects teachings of the Buddha and
commentaries from masters (Longchenpa, Nagarjuna and Asanga);
mahasiddhas (Padmasambhava); yogis (Tilopa and Naropa); and the great
translator Marpa Lotsawa. Rinpoche first presented three Sutrayana
vehicles (Shravakayana, Prateyakabuddhayana, and Bodhisattvayana) in
terms of insights (Four Noble Truths, Twelve Nidanas and Bodhicitta),
practices (Four Foundations of Mindfulness, Renunciation, and
cultivation of Bodhicitta), and conduct (Ten Non-Virtuous Actions and
Bodhisattva Actions). Rinpoche then provided an overview of Vajrayana
in terms of its meaning, distinctions, division into Four Tantras and
reasons for distinguishing which Tantra to teach. Rinpoche then
taught the Kriyanatantrayana, Ubhayatantrayana, Yogatantrayana, and
Annutarayogatantra in terms of preparation and practices. Twelve
talks. Gerry Wiener translated.
