Description
In this teaching, Jim Scott begins by reminding us that the most meaningful connection in our lives is with the dharma. Emptiness, the topic for this teaching, is a most important and essential foundation for our dharma path. Because emptiness can only be experienced, not conceptually grasped or inferred, we must prepare for this experience. Jim Scott begins by explaining the reasons for studying and realizing emptiness, including allowing us to relate to our daily experiences without suffering and with insight that allows us to benefit others. He explains that The Progressive States of Meditation on Emptiness teach us the difference between relative and genuine reality and how to relate to both. Each of the five stages of practice provides the foundation for the next level. During this teaching, Jim takes us through the actual practices rather than simply talking about them. He also provides us with songs and stories to make the teaching more accessible.
