In these talks, Jirka Hladis provides profound analytical
meditation instructions based on numerous Sutras. In the sutras, Buddha taught
that ending suffering depends on directly knowing, fully understanding, and
letting go of our sense faculties, sense objects, and sense consciousnesses (sense
triads or dhatus) as well as the feelings that arise in dependence on the
dhatus. The detailed instructions for meditating on the sense triads are found
in Buddha’s teaching on Penetration of Dhatus.
Based on this Sutra, Jirka guides us through Buddha’s three stages of
meditation on the sense triads, including the relationship between these
practices and the 12 Nidanas. These analytical meditation practices are
profound and Jirka’s instructions are detailed, precise, and insightful. He
frequently entertains questions, further clarifying the instructions. At the
beginning of each talk, Jirka demonstrates what he taught in the previous talk
by leading a guided analytical meditation. He concludes by providing commentary
on The Simile of the Great Log, where
Buddha uses the image of a log floating down the River Ganges to teach us how
to avoid being distracted from the genuine path. All of the Sutras discussed in
these talks are included with the recording. Because Jirka used a white board
and diagrams extensively, you may find the video recordings more helpful than
the audio recordings (MP3 or Audio Download). Five talks as audio download. These talks can be downloaded:
1. Complete your order. 2. You will receive an email confirmation of your order. 3. Usually within 24 hours you will receive two additional emails, one indicating that we have processed your order, and a second that will give you a link to a web page where you can download the talks.
Jirka Hladiš has studied under the guidance of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche since 1997. He joined Nitartha Institute in 2002, and was authorized as a faculty member in 2007. Jirka’s interest is in approaching study, analytical meditation and debate as a unified tool for spiritual transformation. Jirka holds graduate degrees both in engineering from Prague Technical University and in Buddhist studies from Naropa University.
