Description
In this talk, Lama Kathy Wesley makes an airtight case for the benefits of meditation. She begins by identifying the defects of attachment to diversion and discursiveness as demonstrated by our obsession to smart phones and Facebook and the resulting interference with our equanimity, our lives and our relationships. She then skillfully demonstrates how and why meditation provides a remedy for the suffering that arises from attachment, clinging, and fixation. After introducing a variety of approaches to relaxing the mind and gaining control over our thoughts, she concludes by saying that the answer to “Why meditate?” is obvious. If we are unable to learn to let go of distractions, we are controlled by worry, fear, discursiveness and impulsiveness. As a result we are unable to interact skillfully with others. One talk on one DVD.
