In three talks, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche explores the many aspects of practice that relate to stabilizing Vajrayana View, beginning with seeking the blessings of Guru Rinpoche, generating bodhicitta, and analyzing our approach to Vajrayana to find the characteristics of our personal path. From this individualized view, one must then study, contemplate, and practice the general view of the Mahamudra and Dzogchen paths. Rinpoche then provides an extensive teaching on the history and three traditions of Mahamudra together with an explanation of the common and special preliminaries that are necessary conditions for practicing Mahamudra. Rinpoche also provides a brief introduction to Dzogchen followed by teaching the importance of guru devotion and guidance. The information provided in these talks is extremely helpful both for individuals entering the path and for those who have practiced for many years. the audience for this teaching was made up of practitioners who had practiced for many years under the guidance of Trungpa Rinpoche. These talks include extensive question and answer sessions. Rinpoche taught entirely in English with no translator present.
