Description

In this second Treasury of Knowledge Retreat, Rinpoche provided extraordinary advise on hearing and contemplating dharma teachings in order to increase our wisdom, understanding, and insight. Dharma study (hearing) emphasizes working with mind through listening to what the Buddha taught during the three turnings of the wheel of dharma (Talk 4). Interpretations of Buddha's teachings are presented by the Four Schools of Buddhism (Vaibasika, Sautrantika, Cittimatra - Mind Only, and Madhyamaka - Rangtong & Shentong). Rinpoche teaches the views, key points, commonalities, and differences between the four schools. He provides a history of their development, including stories about the teachers and commentators (e.g. Nagarjuna, Candrikirti, Asanga, and Maitreya). He uses examples to explain how these views apply to our practice path, including a Hinayana analysis of sense perception that is extremely helpful for Mahayana and Vajryayana practitioners. (Talks 4-11). With respect to contemplating the dharma, he presents correct methods of analysis (distinguishing between indicative and definitive; distinguishing between hidden and literal, applying the four correct reliances, and using the four modes of reasoning) (Talks 11-13). He concludes with keys to understanding the Vajrayana (Talk 14). This is the Full TIbetan version of this recording which is audio only and can be downloaded.
