Lama Yesha Gyamtso provides a clear, concise, and profound teaching on the Six Perfections of the Mahayana Path of Buddhism. He first explains the essential meaning of the Mahayana path and of aspiration bodhicitta which provides the motivation for practicing the six perfections. Then, after defining perfection (paramita in Sanskrit), Lama Yeshe teaches the meaning of each of the six perfections. In order to be “perfections” they must be practiced in a way that is appropriate, harmless, and with a bodhicitta motivation. In addition, the perfections each have three aspects. For example, the three aspects of generosity are mundane generosity, the generosity of protection, and the generosity of dharma. He concludes by explaining how the practice of each paramita involves practicing all the others at the same time. At the end of this talk, Lama Yeshe invites questions from the audience.
